So it came to be that a lonely boy met a lonely girl and through some magical connection, they came to know one another. She was shy and beautiful, he was awkward, introverted and anti-social. It was not a match that would not be readily apparent at first. They met at school on the very first day and the boy was awestruck by the beautiful girl. She didn't smile much, but the boy resolved himself to change that. He spent much of his time thinking about the girl after that but knew not her name. For three weeks he wished to know and sat idly by admiring her from afar. Then one day the boy learned the girl's name and began to spend time with her. She made him smile, she was smart and for the first time in years the boy felt at peace. He began to mind his dress and take care of his ragged appearance and soon he longed for each day that he could spend with the girl. They grew closer with each passing day, and soon he knew happiness that was far beyond his comprehension.

Soon the early winds of winter began to blow and slowly the leaves changed color. It wasn't long before the children were running around outside and speaking of Halloween. The boy and girl had grown very close by this time and the boy wanted to surprise the girl, so he asked her if she would spend the holiday with him. When she accepted he was ecstatic, he felt as if he had won some large prize by being able to have her with him for the evening. It wasn’t too long before the holiday was upon them both and they dressed in costume and ran about the town, laughing and smiling and being glad to be in one another’s company.

The end of the night was drawing near and the sky was grey with clouds. The boy took the girl’s hand and stole away with her to the lake. The water was beautiful and as if to humor the two of them, the heavens cleared to showcase a marvelous starry sky. They sat near the edge of the water and gazed into the sky and spoke of many things, for hours they stood hand in hand with their heads stretched upwards. For a time not a word was exchanged and the boy felt close and warm and happy, and then slowly he turned to her and held her and they exhaled a sigh of contented relief. They looked into each others eyes and it was in that moment that the boy knew that he had found his home. He knew that he needn’t run from his problems any longer, that it was all inconsequential The green eyes that gazed back at him were those of serenity and he smiled as he held her there entranced in the moment as the stars shined brightly above them.

So it came to be that they fell in love and have lived as of this writing- happily ever after...
